Big 12 Report - Judgement Day in Texas

Wow what a week in the Big 12, and to note, ALL 3 of my free plays covered from my report last week guys, AND I cashed my Big 12 Game of the Month on Missouri -10, and also cashed in Texas Tech, both plays on my Triple Header card last weekend, which is awesome considering it was the first weekend of conference action. Missouri flexed their muscle in Lincoln Nebraska, a game I was at, in a big way, and I am convinced they are the ELITE team in the Big 12, even though Oklahoma is ranked higher, as they stand #1 and #2 in one poll. Chase Daniel has an NFL arm, and this team is loaded with speed and a talent and one of the best ran, well coached spread attacks in College football. Nebraska is a few years away and simply looked slow and lethargic in that game. The notion that Mizzou has no defense is false, I saw a very good defense for Missouri play a flawless game against a tough opponent in a hostile stadium.

Both Texas and Oklahoma won big last week, setting up this weekends Red River War at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, a game I will post as a premium play. Oklahoma opened as a 7 point favorite in that game. This game is always heated and plays a role in who wins the Big 12 South, although Texas Tech and Okie State may have something to say about that by years end. Kansas last week struggled and were very lucky to win in Ames Iowa as I had predicted. While Iowa State is not great football team, they are very tough at home and improving weekly and had every opportunity to win that game but blew a big lead late. Mizzou has a clash with Okie State this weekend in Columbia and will follow up that game with a trip to Austin Texas the following week, a brutal schedule considering they just returned home from Lincoln Nebraska. Heres a few highlighted games and free opinions for this week.

Nebraska at Texas Tech (-21)

Oh my! Texas Tech, after what I saw last week in Lincoln in person, should POUND Nebraska, who was beaten soundly and deflated. Head Coach Bo Pellini apologized to the entire state of Nebraska after that game and vowed total redemption for a poor showing. Perhaps he should have looked ahead at the schedule before promising greatness. Texas tech humiliated Kansas State, a game I was all over last week, and Nebraska proved beyond any doubt they cannot stop a spread attack, rush the passer or play nothing other zone coverage, and not play it well. Look for QB Harrell and WR Crabtree to shine and with the balance of a run game, Nebraska's overworked defense could be in big trouble early and often. Hate to go against a decent squad and lay 3 TD's, but Texas Tech hung 70+ points on Nebraska their last trip to Lubbock, I think they can get at least 55 in this one. Texas Tech 52 Nebraska 27

Colorado at Kansas -14

FREE PLAY OF THE WEEK. I will be all over Colorado here in what should be a very tight football game. Colorado off 2 straight losses against Florida State and Texas, where they laid an egg in both games and failed to establish any defense. Kansas was exposed last week, and while QB Reesing and the offense overcame a 20-0 deficit against a game Iowa State, they also were exposed. Kansas does not have any balance on offense, and have no running game. Granted they were down 20 and had to throw, but KU is not near as physical as last years stellar edition that won the Orange Bowl. Colorado has some moxie on offense, and they match up well against KU's defense, and I look for Head Coach Hawkins to rally the troops this week, balance the run with their 2 running backs and use the spread attack to move the chains. This will be a score fest in Lawrence and a tight one. Kansas 35 Colorado 28

Check out this weeks action, as I will have the OU and Texas Game as my Big 12 feature play of the week, and look forward to seeing the Missouri and Oklahoma State game on ESPN Saturday Night as a great offensive showcase, as Okie State's underrated QB Zac Robinson will be presented to a national TV audience and Mike Gundy will pull out all the stops to put up a showing against the nations #2 ranked Tigers. Since Mizzou is laying 13, and Okie State has still not played anyone, including a hapless Texas AM team, this will be interesting and worth the watch although the big number scares me, off a trip to Lincoln and next week is Texas, anyone say "sandwich game?"
